Course: Mindfulness Training for School Teachers
Duration: 30 hours
Target audience: Teacher professional development
Structure: 10 sessions of 3 hours each
The training consists of 10 sessions of 3 hours each, designed to provide teachers with direct mindfulness experiences and practical tools that can later be applied in the classroom.
Each session combines:
• Guided mindfulness practices
• Reflection and group dialogue
• Conceptual input
• Practical classroom applications
• Daily practice between sessions
The emphasis of the training is on personal practice, as developing one’s own mindfulness is essential before introducing it to students.
General Objectives
• To introduce participants to the principles and practices of mindfulness.
• To develop teachers’ awareness of attention, emotions, and automatic reactions in daily professional situations.
• To provide practical tools for stress regulation and wellbeing in the teaching profession.
• To explore how mindfulness practices can support attention, emotional regulation, and classroom climate among students.
• To support teachers in designing simple mindfulness practices that can be integrated into classroom routines.
Competencies Developed
By the end of the training, participants are expected to develop the ability to:
• Cultivate present-moment awareness in professional and everyday situations.
• Recognize automatic patterns of attention, thinking, and emotional reactivity.
• Apply mindfulness practices to support personal wellbeing and stress management.
• Facilitate short mindfulness exercises adapted to different classroom contexts.
• Foster a classroom environment that supports attention, emotional awareness, and respectful interaction.
• Reflect on their own teaching practices with greater awareness and intentionality.
Training Modules
1. Introduction to Mindfulness
First experiential contact with mindfulness and exploration of attention in everyday life and teaching.
2. Foundations of Mindfulness
Understanding the key principles of mindfulness: present-moment awareness, non-judgment, and curiosity.
3. Awareness of the Body
Developing body awareness as an anchor for attention and recognizing physical signs of stress and tension.
4. Attention and Autopilot
Exploring how attention works, how we fall into automatic patterns, and how mindfulness can help cultivate conscious presence.
5. Why Mindfulness Matters
Scientific and educational perspectives on mindfulness, including benefits for stress regulation, emotional balance, and learning.
6. Working with Thoughts
Observing thoughts without becoming overwhelmed and understanding the relationship between thinking, emotions, and reactions.
7. Working with Emotions
Developing emotional awareness and learning to pause and respond more skillfully in challenging situations.
8. Mindfulness in the Classroom
Practical exercises and short mindfulness activities that teachers can integrate into lessons.
9. Mindfulness in the School
Exploring how mindfulness can contribute to classroom climate, relationships, and the wider school environment.
10. Integration and Closing
Consolidation of learning and development of personal ideas for introducing mindfulness practices in participants’ own classrooms.
Throughout the program, participants will be invited to engage in short daily mindfulness practices to deepen their experience and support the integration of mindfulness into their professional practice.
